| Two of my new babies, #49,922 a 12 gauge D3 "pigeon gun" 2 frame with 32" T3 barrels added at Meriden in 1908 and #39,922 a 10 gauge D2 3 frame with 32" steel barrels added by ARMAF, Liege circa 1969...both retain their original Damascus barrels in excellent condition... | Russell did a particularly tasteful job on the Bickel Mark IIb single trigger on 49,922 and shaping and modifying a spare original Parker pg guard to fit... Attached Image (viewed 426 times):

Mr Kaas,
Those are extremely impressive pieces. I esp like the 32" 12 ga with the single trigger. I would think that she gives pigeons nitemares and you sweat dreams of swatting them hard.

Mr Kaas,
Seriously that is an awesome pair of hammer guns. The only way the 12 ga could get any sexier would be to have 34" tubes.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

| Holy cow! It's just like 1958 and I'm seeing the centerfold in Playboy for the first time! Almost too good to be true and I'm getting strange feelings all over. Wonderful workmanship and design.

| If you please. How much does 49XXX weigh, how is she choked, and how hard does she hit the pigeons? Truely outstanding piece.

It weighs 8lbs 2oz wit the Titanics. The 30" Damascus barrels are 5 oz heavier. The gun was ordered at "8 1/2 lbs". It is choked .036/.036 on .735 bores. It shoots Win. 3 1/4 dre 1 1/4 oz #8 loads very well but we had to stock it very high to get it even to shoot flat...1 1/4"x 1 3/4"x 14 1/2" with 1/4" cast on over a Parker sbp.
The background of the photos is the tanned leather hide of a record book Cape Eland I took in Namibia a few years ago...maybe Kevin can make a gun case out of it for me

Don,
Very attractive guns...you mentioned Turnbull did the colors on 49,922. Did he also do the polishing and did he then have to recut the engraving before re-casecoloring?

| No and no...until I "ruined it" the gun was in the hands of the same family whose ancestor purchased it new in 1890. It was in pretty good shape but we decided to go all in on it. Last edited on Tue Aug 26th, 2008 11:51 pm by Don Kaas

| Do I remember correctly that the 12 gauge gun had double triggers when found?

| Was any of the engraving "lost" as a result of polishing w/o re-cutting the engraving?

Kind of you to say so, mon Colonel. I wish I could take the 10ga on our imminent trip to Alberta for the gooses (and the ex- Col. Gross D3 12ga toplever for de ducks...) but ammo transport issues prevail. I have to pick up the #3 frame 12g DH 2 7/8" from "the stocker' this weekend. This may be the Parker to come along with the Benelli SBE II but I'd love to take the #2 frame 20g 3" DH...
